According to the Council of the European Union, on 30 July 2026, the EU imposed sanctions on seven individuals and three entities responsible for serious human rights violations linked to scam centres in Southeast Asia. The sanctions target those involved in:
- Human trafficking
- Forced labor
- Torture and other cruel treatment
- Arbitrary detention
- Large-scale online fraud and organized crime
